Australian Poetry prides itself on being a ‘learner’ organisation, which means being responsive to your feedback as poet/contributor or reader and audience. In 2016, as a result, we are introducing new, improved systems around the production of our flagship Australian Poetry Journal and the annual Australian Poets Anthology. These improvements will enhance the simplicity, enjoyment and timeliness of contributor and readership experience – improving on the benchmarks for what is already a prestigious archive of publications. The new submissions email, with strict reading times, is: apjsubmissions@gmail.com. Journal Editor Michael Sharkey will oversee the publications for Australian Poetry Journal Volumes 6.1 (publication date May 2016) and 6.2 (publication date November 2016), and a new series of monthly online review ‘shorts’, concentrating on critical appraisals of the best of contemporary Australian poetry collections, which will also commence in 2016. Following the uber-editor team of last year’s annual Anthology – with Sarah Holland-Batt and Brook Emery at the helm – AP looks forward to announcing the editor team for the 2016 Anthology. Submission call out details for both the Journal (6.1 and 6.2) and the 2016 Anthology will be released across the year at: australianpoetry.org Remember that only subscribers to the organisation of Australian Poetry can submit to the annual Anthology – an impressive set of names features in the 2015 collection, and we look forward to seeing the Anthology canon only strengthen year by year. For a quick look back over the impressive history of the Journal, go to Australian Poetry Journal. Australian Poetry also publishes a regular e-news, which is sent to 2,000 readers nationally. Subscribers receive the e-news as a benefit. It wraps up the latest news in Australian poetry culture, and publicises important events and opportunities.

The Australian Poetry Journal, published twice annually, publishes the best Australian poetry, by recognised, emerging and new poets. It is the flagship publication of Australian Poetry, as the national poetry organisation, and is the only print-form literary journal dedicated to the publishing of Australian poetry, without set theme and across forms. Interviews, reviews, profiles, essays and features about the poetics and experience of Australian poets, and related participants, such as publishers, accompany the poems. The print edition is available digitally to Australian Poetry subscribers. Editor is Michael Sharkey, Publisher is Australian Poetry Limited. The journal is produced to exacting standards and is beautifully designed by Stuart Geddes. Artwork by contemporary Australian artists, selected on a state by state basis, is celebrated in the coverwork of both the Journal and the annual Anthology.

The annual Australian Poets Anthology has a tradition of being edited by poets of the highest reputation. Released in November each year submissions are open only to Australian Poetry subscribers. The 2015 Australian Poetry Anthology features 85 poems by 66 poets.
